Description: Please join the Atkinson School Outdoor Learning Garden Parents and Volunteers for a 4-H Sustainable Schools Gathering. This is our first 4-H Sustainable Schools Networking Gathering for the 2011-12 school year. We will be rotating these gatherings to different schools throughout the year so we can learn and share.
Atkinson School has been a 4-H Member school since 2001. Their Outdoor Learning Garden is an inspirational project that includes five different gardens and involves the entire school made up of many multicultural audiences. Their site also includes an outdoor classroom, a summer day camp program, and a comprehensive parent volunteer program. Come learn what Atkinson School is doing and some of the projects they have undertaken. Learn about the challenges they face, their successes and what they are planning for the future.

This is also a time to network and share with other parents, educators and volunteers who are involved in school gardens in the Portland Metro area. Bring a resource to share with the group. Since this is a non-school day in Portland, children are welcomed.
